Management of Primary Health Center (New)
Primary Health Center (New), located at Srimula village of Kamakshya Nagar Block of Dhenkanal district is managed by Social Organization for Voluntary Action (SOVA) since 19 April 2010. The PHC (N) has been serving a population of about 28000 living in 4 Grampanchayats; Kantapal, Tumusinga, Kantio Kateni & Kantio Putasahi. Managed under Public Private Partnership mode, it is associated with the Community Health Center at Analabereni for administrative purpose.
SOVA has mobilized external support to enhance infrastructural facilities e.g., solar electrification to address emergency power supply.
The Mobile Health Unit Programme
SOVA had mobilized one Mobile Health Unit (MHU) to reach out to patients in remote areas. The funds for procurement of the vehicle was provided by BASAID, a Swiss based INGO. The MHU puts priority to addressing health issues concerning rural people and people living in difficult terrain in its area of operation. Since last three years it has been conducting 30 outreach health camps per year.
Fortification of Rice in Mid-Day Meal program
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) replicated its Fortification of Rice Kernel (FRK) project in Dhenkanal in association with SOVA. Fortification of Rice in the Mid-Day Meal programme is being presently implemented in 4 blocks; namely Sadar, Kamakhyanagar, Parajanga and Bhuban of the district. 835 schools are covered under the programme where MDM is cooked with fortified rice (rice kernel mixed to normal rice and cooked under guided and hygienic condition) to add nutritional value to the MDM.
Swachha Bharat Mission
Popularizing Swachha Bharat Mission has been placed in the mandate of the organization since its commencement. During the period under report, SOVA undertook to organize Block and District Level Drawing, Story writing and Debate Competions among the High School students across the district.
